           James Gray


James Gray gained a BSc in pure and applied mathematics at Queens' University, Belfast and began his career in 1973 with a leading accounting firm qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. After a few years in management consulting James joined the Corporate Finance Division of the Northern Ireland Development Agency in 1980 investing in new and established companies.

From 1986 to 1990, he was seconded to the British Consulate General in Chicago as Consul heading the UK inward investment effort in the Mid-Western United States. In 1990 he set up and ran a network of sales and marketing offices for the Northern Ireland Development Board in Chicago, Los Angeles, San Jose and Atlanta which led to an increase in American investment in Northern Ireland, before returning to Belfast in 1996 as Executive Director in International Marketing.

James joined East of England International on 1 April 1997 as its first Chief Executive based in Cambridge England. East of England International is a private company attracting mostly technology inward investment to the East of England region and supporting local businesses to expand their international markets. 

In October 2007 James joined the Bahrain Economic Development Board as Executive Director Business Development.
